Anyone pick up books while traveling by home grown authors? This is something I aspire to, although rarely accomplish, both out of practicality (not much room to carry around books) and opportunity (I don't always get to local shops that have books in english).
So far, I picked up "Double" by Jose Saramago while in Portugal (didn't start until after I'd left the country, still reading it), and I just bought Aleksander Hemon's debut, "The Question of Bruno" in Sarajevo. That author lives in the US now and writes in english, but the stories in this book do focus on the former Yugoslavia. I'm looking forward to reading them.
This would be easier to do if I were an e-book reader, but holding an actual book is a big part of the joy of reading for me
